About us
Jurassic Plants Nursery is an mail order, cottage specialty nursery located in paradise -- the coastal temperate rainforest of the Sunshine Coast of south-western British Columbia, in zone 8(b). (If you want to join us in paradise, check out www.sunshinecoastland.com. )

We grow the rarest plants on Earth. As far as we know, we are the only Canadian nursery specializing in cycads. We grow all our own plants from seed, ensuring they have a healthy and hardy start. Seeds are obtained from botanical gardens and other cycad growers around the world.
We want to participate in the preservation of these rare, endangered plants of antiquity. By propagating them we increase the number of plants growing in the world, and lessen the demand of collectors on wild populations. We are currently growing out a representative collection of cycads to donate to the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden (of which Lori is the Past President) in furtherance of the conservation effort. We are a member of the Cycad Society, a world-wide organization dedicated to the preservation of cycads.
Lori gives digital slide presentations on cycads, and has written an article on cycads published in the November/December 2006 issue of Gardens West magazine. Jurassic Plants Nursery was also featured in the April 23rd, 2007 MacLean's article entitled "Next best thing to a pet dinosaur," and in The Vancouver Sun on July 6th in an article by Steve Whysall entitled "Jurassic Plants."
